(2R,5R)-2,5-Dimethyl-1-propyl-4-(o-tolyl)pyrrolidin-3-one is an analogue of 2,5-Dimethyl-3-(2-methylphenyl)-1-propylimidazolini-4-one (D477055), an impurity of Prilocaine (Prilocaine Hydrochloride P725000). Prilocaine is a local anesthetic of the amino amide type and is often used in dentistry. Prilocaine is also often combined with lidocaine as a preparation for dermal anesthesia (lidocaine/prilocaine or EMLA) towards the treatment of conditions like paresthesia.

(2S,5R)-2,5-Dimethylmorpholine is a variation of Morpholine (M723725) which is used as selective inhibitors of cytochrome p450 2a13 in treatment of cancer. Morpholine is a building block in the preparation of the antibiotic Linezolid (L466500), the anticancer agent Gefitinib (G304000) and the analgetic Dextromoramide (M630190).
