KFG-2/FGF-10-2
Mature human FGF-10 is an approximately 20 kDa protein that contains a serine-rich region near its N-terminus (2, 3). It shares 93% and 96% amino acid sequence identity with mouse and rat FGF-10, respectively. Mature human FGF-10 is an approximately 20 kDa protein that contains a serine-rich region near its N-terminus (2, 3). It shares 93% and 96% amino acid sequence identity with mouse and rat FGF-10, respectively. FGF-10 is a stromal-derived paracrine growth factor considered to be important during embryogenesis. FGF-10 plays an important role in adipogenesis, at least partly by contributing to the expression of C/EBPβ through an autocrine/paracrine mechanism. During cardiogenesis, FGF-10 is expressed in the anterior second heart field. Together with Fibroblast growth factor 8 (FGF-8), FGF10 promotes the proliferation of these cardiac progenitor cells that form the arterial pole of the heart.
