Emulsifier for water-in-oil and oil-in-water emulsions to improve viscosity and emulsion stability.

It is more commonly used as a thickener for topical semi-solid preparations. Compared with other thickeners, it has a relatively more delicate and softer skin feel and better melting sensation.

Widely used as thickeners in topical semi-solids, especially creams and ointments, with excellent thickening ability and HLB of 3, which is helpful for the stability of emulsification system; as anti-adhesive agent for tablet coating, such as razole products; and in other oral preparations in a small amount of application, such as simethicone emulsion.

Gum Arabic is used in food supplements and pharmaceuticals for tableting and coating of pills, capsules and tablets. Other pharmaceutical applications include encapsulation in microgranules, as a thickener and suspending aid in syrups or emulsions.
