Cinoxacin [HRP]

Cinoxacin, also known as cinobac or azolinic acid, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as cinnolines. These are organic aromatic compounds containing a benzene fused to a pyridazine ring. Cinoxacin is a drug which is used for the treatment of initial and recurrent urinary tract infections in adults caused by the following susceptible microorganisms: escherichia coli, proteus mirabilis, proteus vulgaris, klebsiella species (including k. pneumoniae), and enterobacter species. Cinoxacin exists as a solid and is considered to be practically insoluble (in water) and relatively neutral. Cinoxacin has been detected in multiple biofluids, such as urine and blood. Within the cell, cinoxacin is primarily located in the cytoplasm.
