Allicin
Allicin is a natural product isolated from garlic (Allium sativum) that exhibits many biological effects including antioxidative, anticancer, antimicrobial, and antifungal activities. Allicin (5-10 µM) dose-dependently inhibits cell adhesion, invasion, and migration in lung adenocarcinoma cell lines A549 and H1299. It also alters the balance of tissue inhibitors of matrix metalloproteinases (TIMPs) and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), decreases phosphorylation of Akt, and decreases PI3K/Akt signaling.
