The synthesis of 4-hydroxypiperidine has been reported. 4-Hydroxypiperidine participates in the synthesis of 4-(4′-hydroxypiperidino)-4-phenylcyclohexanol and 1-(4-hydroxypiperidino)cyclohexanecarbonitrile. 4-Hydroxypiperidine is the starting material for the synthesis of Sibrafiban and Lamifiban, two non-peptidefibrinogen receptor.
