Delphinidin (chloride)
Delphinidin is a natural plant pigment. It serves as the precursor of certain anthocyanins. It is used as an anthocyanin standard.The pigment is found in grapes, cranberries, and some flowers. It is an antioxidant. It shows multiple effects. It causes vasorelaxation by inducing the release of nitric oxide by vascular endothelium. It induces apoptosis in HER2-overexpressing breast cancer cells. It also inhibits the histone acetyltransferase activities of p300/CBP.
