Nicotinamide N-oxide is recognized as an in vivo metabolite of nicotinamide which is a precurser of nicotinamide-adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) in animals, can be used in studies of mechanisms of niacin-related granulocyte differentiation of cells such as human promyelocytic leukemia cells (HL-60).
