Benzo[e]pyrene
This polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon is soluble in acetone. It is a non-carcinogenic benzopyrene isomer. Studies report its lack of immunosuppressive activity following in vivo and in vitro exposure. In nature, it is metabolized by strains of C. elegans to 3-benzo[e]Pyrene sulphate, 1-hydroxy-3-benzi[e]pyrenyl sulfate and bezo[e]Pyrene 3-O-?-glucopyranoside.
