(1R,2S,5R)-Menthol-5R-hydroxy-[1,3]-oxathiolane-2R-carboxylate is an intermediate of Lamivudine, a potent nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor and antiviral agent. Lamivudine has also been used for treatment of chronic hepatitis B.
