Igmesine is a selective σ1 receptor ligand (KD = 19.1 nM), with nearly no activity at σ2 receptors (IC50 > 1000 nM). It was developed by Pfizer. Igmesine inhibits the NMDA-induced increase in cGMP in a concentration-dependent manner and IC50 value is approximately 100 nM. Igmesine can weekly inhibit brain 5-HT uptake in vitro. It exhibits neuroprotective and antidepressant effects. No developments were reported for the treatment of Cognition disorders, Diarrhoea and Major depressive disorder.
