N-Acetyl-L-leucine is used in the preparation of small molecule inhibitors of anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 family proteins. It is used in the preparation of amphiphilic copolymers involving hydrophobic amino acid and oligopeptide side chains for optical tumor imaging in vivo.
