1,8-Dihydroxyanthraquinone is a synthetic anthraquinone derivative, currently used as an antioxidant in synthetic lubricants, in the synthesis of antitumor agents, as a fungicide and as an intermediate for making dyes. It is also an inhibitor of 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase (6PGD).
