It can break down melanin in the skin, stop the production of melanin and restore the skin to a healthy color without destroying melanocytes. It is very mildly toxic and is usually made into an ointment or a rub.
Monobenzone is a milky white crystalline powder; slightly soluble in water, very soluble in ethanol and benzene; soluble in acetone and alkali, insoluble in petroleum ether and hydrocarbon.
