Clavulanic acid
Clavulanic acid is a naturally occurring, powerful bacterial β-lactamase inhibitor. The beta-lactam ring found in clavulanic acid binds to the active site of beta-lactamase, resulting in enzyme inactivation and enhancing the antibacterial activity of beta-lactam antibiotics like amoxicillin.
